I can’t access the site or the website content isn’t displaying properly. Why is this? [top]
Most likely, you are using an older browser. Simple Milestones supports Internet Explorer 7.0 and higher, and newer browsers such as Chrome (click here to download) and Safari (click here to download). The current version of Internet
Explorer is 10.0.
I’ve lost or forgotten my password. How do I get a replacement one? [top]
Most usernames are work email addresses. You can contact your program administrator to confirm the email s/he used when creating your account.
Can I change my Simple Milestones default or preferred technology platform (e.g., text messaging vs. browser)? [top]
This setting is controlled by your program administrator. If s/he has allowed you to set your own defaults, you can make changes by logging in on a desktop browser and clicking on your account icon in the upper right hand corner.
I haven’t received any text messages from Simple Milestones.
The first time you logged in to your account, you were asked to create your password and confirm your cell phone number. On confirmation of your cell phone number, you should have received a text message that looked like the following:
If you did not receive this message or want to reconfirm your cell phone, you can resend the confirmation text message by visiting the ‘My Profile’ page found in the navigation drop-down menu.
What if I want to change my reply to a question once I have already entered it? [top]
If you are using a browser or smartphone browser, use the navigation buttons to return to the previous question. You can change the answer and proceed from there.
Why am I getting different questions for different residents? [top]
There are two possible explanations for this:
1. Milestones are assigned by your residency program administrator/director. Occasionally, you may be assigned different milestones for different residents. We recommend you contact your program administrator/director
to discuss this, as proper milestone assignments are critical for accurate resident evaluation.
2. Each milestone has dozens of questions. To minimize repetitive work for faculty, questions that residents have previously “passed” (e.g. during a prior rotation or evaluation period), are typically not re-asked.
What if I haven’t observed a resident on a particular skill? [top]
Please choose the “did not observe” option. For the text messaging system, this selection can be made by replying with the letter “D”.
What if I am not yet able to make a definitive assessment for a particular milestone? [top]
If you aren’t able to make a definitive assessment, you can answer “did not observe” or “no”. An answer of “No” simply means that the resident hasn’t currently demonstrated a particular skillset to you. In all likelihood that resident
will, at a future date, demonstrate a “Yes” skillset to you or another faculty member.
For each rotation/evaluation period, your residency program administrator/director has set a due date. You will receive an email and/or text message when the due date becomes due. You can, however, login at anytime and complete your
Can I evaluate a resident on a milestone that I’m not officially assigned to if I have observed them fulfill a particular milestone on multiple occasions? [top]
To evaluate a resident, the milestone must be assigned to you. If you feel strongly that you should complete an evaluation for a particular milestone, please contact your residency program administrator and request that the relevant milestone
be assigned to you. (Multiple faculty can be assigned to any milestone.)
Can assistants be alerted when the milestones invitations have been sent without giving them access to the system/sending them invitations? [top]
We do not currently have this capability but will work to add it in the future.
